VINTAGES
“A record harvest in terms of quantity and quality”, as Enrique Pascual, president of the Ribera del Duero Control Board, explains, “a harvest marked by a high weight of grape clusters, whose ripening, due to the great weather conditions in September, has made it possible to obtain a raw material with a probable alcohol content of between 13.5 and 14º and a good phenolic ripening point”. 100% Tempranillo, 14.5%. From vineyards in Pesquera de Duero. Located at an altitude of over 950 metres above sea level, with limited yields. Harvested by hand with fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. Maceration for 3-4 weeks, with several daily pumping-overs. 24 months in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barrels. A wine with great character and surprising youth despite its long ageing. Intense cherry red colour with garnet rim. Great complexity of aromas on which stand out red fruit jam, prunes, well combined with the fine notes of spices from the barrel (clove and allspice). Silky and intense in the mouth, with a persistent and elegant finish. Roast meats, red meats, lamb, pork or beef, truffle dishes, cured cheeses, stews and casseroles.
Tamaral Gran Reserva 2014
The weather was decisive throughout the vine growing cycle, which was uneventful, with no serious adverse weather events and only a negligible incidence of pests or diseases. As a result, and thanks to the hard work of the winegrowers and winemakers of the Designation of Origin, the 2013 harvest was exceptional in terms of quantity and unquestionable quality. From old vines (45 to 100 years old) located at an altitude of over 900 metres in Pesquera de Duero. Controlled yields. Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26ºC.
